The Volunteer Teacher Program is a cornerstone of OCF’s commitment to addressing educational inequality in Nigeria. Recognizing the shortage of qualified teachers in many low-income communities, the Foundation recruits and deploys volunteer teachers to underserved schools, including Sangana Primary School and Port Harcourt Primary School. These volunteers are dedicated to delivering high-quality instruction and mentoring students who would otherwise be left behind due to a lack of resources.
In addition to improving academic performance, the program aims to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for children of all backgrounds. Volunteer teachers not only teach academic subjects but also focus on the personal development of the students, helping them build life skills, confidence, and resilience. By bridging the gap between well-resourced schools and those in underprivileged areas, this program plays a vital role in leveling the playing field for all children.
