Okachi Charity Foundation Brings Hope to LEA Primary School in Gbagalape FCT Abuja

In a heartfelt response to the pressing needs of a rural school community, the Okachi Charity Foundation (OCF) recently conducted a transformative visit to LEA Primary School, Gbagalape, Abuja. The school, serving children from a low-income community where families depend largely on subsistence farming and low- wage labor, struggles with limited resources, inadequate infrastructure, and overcrowded classrooms. Determined to make an impactful difference, OCF embarked on a mission to assess and support the school’s needs. The needs assessment highlighted several critical issues: a dire shortage of desks, classrooms in poor condition, limited and poorly maintained sanitation facilities, and many students attending school without proper footwear. In response, OCF’s founder took the extraordinary step of personally funding the production of 60 custom-designed desks with attached benches. These were produced locally and delivered directly to the school, ensuring that more students could enjoy dignified, comfortable seating.Beyond the desks, OCF added a splash of creativity to the classrooms by painting them with vibrant educational designs.

The aim was to create a visually stimulating environment that would engage students and inspire their curiosity. Teachers soon noted a tangible difference in student morale and enthusiasm for learning, while the Head Teacher and PTA Chairman expressed deep gratitude for the changes.However, OCF’s work is far from done. During their visit, the team identified other areas requiring immediate attention. The lack of proper footwear among many students underscored the ongoing challenges faced by families in the community. Committed to long-term solutions, OCF pledged to provide school kits that include shoes and essential supplies. Plans are also underway to deploy volunteer teachers for ICT and core subjects and renovate classrooms and restroom facilities to further enhance the school environment. This effort is in futherance of our commitment to uplifting education standards and improving the quality of life for children in underserved communities. By addressing basic needs and fostering a supportive learning atmosphere, OCF is laying the groundwork for sustained academic success and brighter futures for pupils in Gbagalape Abuja FCT.
